So i began to run… and even like it!

It’s been a while since i made my last entry here, but, the better i feel the less i have to ramble about. In short:

- I began to run (jogging) a week ago and its really amazing! Never thought i’d like it, plus it helps to reduce smoking. I came from almost one pack cigarettes during shift (!) to now only 5-6 cigarettes per shift. When i am home, i go running, come back and dont need/want a cigarette the whole evening. I am pretty proud and i really think i could completely give up smoking someday.

- I created www.relyonhorror.com and merged www.deadspacehorror.com with it. During holiday break i will also merge www.rehorror.net with this new site. I am back in power, control over everything and most importantly: I can react and act as soon as things/bugs occur.

- My russian is pretty good now and i can build various sentences already.

- So either way, plan is to get wife and kids in the long term, however not going to waste too much time here if it doesnt happen. Preparing for a living that is conform in both Austria and Cyprus.. so i could leave at any time with a big FUCK YOU ALL and a dump truck full of money.

Good times.

Baroness blew me away + on FaceBook, for the sake of it

There’s this band called “Baroness”. They’re style usually is put into the Sludge Metal category, i however belive to hear alot of other influences and styles covering the whole universe of rock music. Their second full length album entitled “Blue Record” recently hit store shelves and it was only a week ago when i first read about them in a music magazine.

I found them to be interesting and downloaded a few tracks just to immediately order my own copy via Amazon. Yes, they really blew me away! I may write a Short Review some day, in the meantime, be sure to check out some of their tracks if your into this kind of music:

- A Horse Called Golgotha, The Gnashing, Steel that Sleeps the Eye, Blackpowder Orchard, Ogeechee Hymnal

Secondary, after years of refusal i created a Facebook account for the main purpose to connect with users from my sites. The only way i used Facebook before was via their Ad Network, to promote my sites on FaceBook. Let’s see if it can be done without wasting money aswell. Facebook is one of the sites that will lead to a complete overdose of the internet one day. A mess full of “social” people while the streets will get more empty as time goes on.

IMO its time for a Web 3.0 combining what has made the internet that great with small bits of “social networking”. Most sites overdo it these days, the result of too much interactivity/integrity of a site’s userbase usually results in loads of content, albeit too much garbage content.

Until next time, have a nice weekend you brave visitor of this weird blog. :)

A few updates

Holidays are over, guess i can feel it. Alot of work both at work and online, however i had the chance to finish my bedroom before. Now i have to wait another 8 weeks until i get the new furniture.. meh.

I also went to a long overdue health check, a pretty massive one which altogheter lasted around 5 hours. I can happily announce that i am in perfect health. *knocks on wood* It appears my body is very resistant…

Over at reHorror we had the chance to run a nice game give-away competition for RE5 PC. Thanks to GameRiot we’re in the lucky situation to be able to run contests, including prizes, on reHorror now. However, there are still alot of issues, especially in terms of new modules, features, bug fixes with them. The site definitely changed for the worse in terms of quality content thanks to “open blogging” for anyone, on the other hand, this freedom is able to generate heaps of discussions and interactivity between the users. According to Google Analytics the site attracts more visitors since the change.

We’ll see how it goes in the next year.

And to close this minor update, i may create something new soon.. Maybe even related to the niche.

OMG, its been a damn good while…

… since i’ve posted a blog for the last time. The reasons are simple, my life is that boring, i dont know what to write about. ;-)

Nah, i’ve been to said festival two weeks ago which was absolutely brilliant, however i began to suffer from a cold and had non-stop nightshifts. Time to get in loads of money though, my Audi A3 is coming next week hopefully! Finally!

Oh and i am learning russian as we speak for free. We had this oppurtunity in the factory to properly learn it. Some participants have to learn it for their job, i just jumped onto the train to learn it and get a russian housewife or wife someday.. My father will most likely burry me below an olive tree when i visit him again and am able to speak russian, but not greek. At least russian and greek alphapbet is similar, so i have some advantages when i decide to learn greek aswell.

Now onto rehorror.net. I am fond with my new partner GameRiot, however its not as easy as i expected, but i will keep bothering the guys to change the site to my/the users likes over time.

Its a bit of a “dead brain” time for me, i really need to relax somewhere soon to find new ideas for future projects. Something else, i always wanted to do something in a different niche, however its not easy to leave well known ground to start from zero again. Who knows whats coming in the next years, but even if my hair slowly turns grey (hey, i am greek, its normal!… i guess) that doesnt mean i am getting tired/old of the stuff i do.

 Cheers!

Dead Space Horror kicks your ass!

I’d like to report the amazing increase in SE rankings i was able to experience with www.deadspacehorror.com We are on the first page for almost anything related to the “Dead Space …” search term.

The site is now 8 months old so how’s that possible? Absolute, unique and new quality content. We’re offering content no other site on the net offers for Dead Space so far. Thats the main reason for its success. Also, i haven’t focused on reciprocal link building at all, forget about that, let others link to your site and only have a handfull “affiliates” which you link to aswell. Choose your links wisely! It’s something i had to learn over the years aswell.

Various Ramblings

We’re currently importing reHorror.net to the network we’re partnering up with. Its a slow process seing as forum and site databases need to be combined, then moved. We’re done with that, but now comes the really time consuming part… moving all static content to the new destination. I cannot mention any specific date as to when the importing process is completely done, but i predict it won’t happen before the end of May.

Another site dealing with Survival Horror game “Dead Space” is on track. Founded in October of last year it is experiencing a steady increase in visitor numbers and it is by far the quickest growing site i ever was able to found. Additional bloggers/editors take in a good percentage of the site’s success at the moment.

Other than that, there’s not much to report regarding my online work. Compared to the enormous rush of visitors before Resident Evil 5 came out, it all slowed down quite a bit now. I enjoy these times aswell, afterall its spring now, summer soon and it can be quite frustrating to work on your computer while your friends are enjoing their day at a lake.

On a life related note, i couldn’t be more happy right now. Everything seems to run smooth for me, however i have big respect of such situations since they can be over soon again. Experiences from the past have teached me to remain patient and calm, even in the most joyful situations.

My days are completely full now, they’re running away from me, its hard to catch them really. Time never went by so quickly before in my life which isn’t a bad thing. I work way too much though and am already “booked” for many sunday shifts during summer…. and people wonder how i am able to buy a new car right now. I’ve ordered my dream car just a few days ago. It is a great feeling when you can finally buy something you’ve worked for so hard. The “global crysis” is playing in my hands, maybe because i question it alot. I have my own theories about all the curious things happening right now. I begin to question almost anything which can result in headache, but for me definitely is a better way to go than to just swim with the masses. They’re swimming in swarms, in rivers with crocodiles and pyranhas while i watch them and wait until the three parties rape and kill each other. Maybe then i jump in aswell to find other people who share the same thoughts and we walk a total different path then.

Oh well, time to head for the afternoon shift, but there’s a light at the end of the shift, not too far away… i can already see it.

Enjoy spring!

Re-Start with a post about just anything

Given that my previous blog posts only reached the people i DID NOT want to reach it, i’ve decided to pull all previous posts offline.

There’s now a portofolio page with all websites i am involved in so you can get a glimpse of what i am doing online.

Highlights for reHorror.net included the 10,000 visitor mark it was able to break a few days ago.  The negative highlight is that i may need an even bigger server soon.

Highlights for deadspacehorror.con included an exclusive interview with Dead Space director and General Manager of EA Redwood Shores, Glen Schofield. And this will definitely not be the last exclusive for that site. Unlike reHorror.net this site enjoys huge respect from Electronic Arts and the work relationship between fansite and game developers may even become closer.

I was working 3 sundays every month in the copper factory since November 2008 and therefore i should be able to finally buy my dream car, an Audi A3 soon. Or i may just continue to save up to finally … buy the 75,000 dollars version of Josh Freese’s (NIN, A Perfect Circle) new album:

$75,000 (limited edition of 1)

-Signed CD/DVD and digital download -T-shirt -Go on tour with Josh for a few days. -Have Josh write, record and release a 5 song EP about you and your life story. -Take home any of his drumsets (only one but you can choose which one.) -Take shrooms and cruise Hollywood in Danny from TOOL’s Lamborgini OR play quarters and then hop on the Ouija board for a while. -Josh will join your band for a month…play shows, record, party with groupies, etc…. -If you don’t have a band he’ll be your personal assistant for a month (4 day work weeks, 10 am to 4 pm) -Take a limo down to Tijuana and he’ll show you how it’s done (what that means exactly we can’t legally get into here) -If you don’t live in Southern California (but are a US resident) he’ll come to you and be your personal assistant/cabana boy for 2 weeks. -Take a flying trapeze lesson with Josh and Robin from NIN, go back to Robin’s place afterwards and his wife will make you raw lasagna.

A great way of marketing if you ask me and i am definitely sure all of these packages here get sold:

The year 2009 will be a pleasure for me when it comes to new album releases of my favourite artists: Isis, Mastodon, Dredg and many other great things like Justin Wilson’s  (Porcupine Tree) first solo album which i REALLY love so far

The new dredg album should a bix between “Catch without arms” and hopefully “El Cielo”. The sound clips available on their YouTube page already indicate a great production: http://www.youtube.com/user/7billionth
